Consider a Painting of Your Senior Dog

dsc_0557

Ryan Jordan is known for his “Day of the Dead” doxie paintings. I commissioned some artwork from him this year and sent a picture of Bruiser to him to get his creative juices flowing.

I’m so happy with the painting! We talked about colors and what would work well in the family room and he absolutely nailed it!

Here are a few pics but I thought I’d share with pet bloggers in case you all need some ideas for holiday gifts! His prices are super reasonable.

This is also for Wordless Wednesday! Thanks for hopping over!

Love how his tail starts going when he alerts! Nice job! Now I still haven’t heard if you got the title or not…very curious to know! Lucky the exterior was not on grass, that is always a bonus!

    • I wish we lived near each other and were in a class together 🙂 Ok, it was a FUN trial day!! We nailed 3/4 and missed containers. That video I didn’t post as we had a lot of trouble with the flooring texture. It was a wooden stage and the really narrow stairs we had some trouble getting up. I should have used it as a training moment vs. searching for odor — ie army crawl into the search… but he did so awesome so total win. Now we have to wait for our next NW1 trial!! I’m hoping we can get in some Element trials!! I have done an exterior on grass with Sherm and it was well VERY hard. 🙂 Agreed!!

Emma missed her first NW1 by about 18″ on a vehicle. It was my first trial ever and I think I just jumped the gun as it was our last search and I wanted the title. Bailie missed her first try as she simply was too worn out to search and wouldn’t pay attention to the containers. For me the hardest part is not knowing when the next opportunity will be. Both girls have a trial in October, and I’m hoping they do well. I wish we lived closer too. The NW community is such a great thing. We just finished a weekend up north at nose work camp and it was so awesome. There is so much to learn and getting ideas from different instructors from other parts of the country is so helpful. Congratulations to you guys for doing so well!

        • Thank you so much for this: I’ve been thinking a lot about why we missed containers and what I could have done — I also was eager for that title and the worst part is we have our Element title in containers :). I was devastated. I’m also in the same boat as I have no idea when the next trial will be and we don’t have Elements on the calendar either! I’m sending a ton of positive nosework energy your way for your trials next month. Thank you so much for your kind words – I was super proud of Walter and we’ve been working so hard! Now we just……wait!! I wish the judges could hang out and critique after the search 😉

I love that portrait! I can really see the Day of the Dead thing going on. And the colors really pop!

    • Thank you so much! Totally agree with you – that Day of the Dead theme really extends through his work. Loved the colors too! He kind of surprised me with the whole color scheme even though we talked about colors briefly!

  4. Interesting and love it<3 Golden Woofs, SUGAR

It’s beautiful Christy. I’m actually getting a painting done for Jeff for Christmas I think. It isn’t cheap but it’s his favorite photo of Charlie as a puppy being all fierce-like.
Love including pieces around the home that commemorates our love of our furkids. 🙂

    • Thank you so much! It’s SUCH a great gift idea and I know Jeff will love this — it’s super thoughtful. I also think it’s nice to have some pieces that mix in with photographs too. That’s awesome – cannot wait to see how it turns out!

I just LOVE this painting of Bruiser and the colors too! I checked out Ryan’s Facebook page and he’s so talented. I just may have to commission a painting of Haley. Thanks so much for sharing the painting and Ryan’s work!

  7. Beautiful painting, and impressive nose work!

I just LOVE the colors in that painting! I have one of Sheba I had done, now I need one of Cricket next. I’ll look at Ryan’s site and maybe have him do this one.
    Loved the NW video….great job!

    • Thank you so much! His prices were super reasonable and I think it’s nice to have a painting of Brui since I have so many photographs of him — changing it up is good! Thank you for your kind words about nosework! 🙂
