Old Dog Sanctuary: How Deep Is Your Love

*Yes the title is from a pop song I like to listen to… “How Deep Is Your Love” by Calvin Harris…

Someone asked me what my dream job is and I said “to run an old dog sanctuary” on a large property. Perhaps living with one old dog is plenty of work as it is! Monitoring the wellness of Bruiser is stressful enough and he’s crushing it. Mike said this morning he ran around the block – was it because it was shortly after 7 a.m. and the weather is cooler?

Would I spend the entire time walking around the old dog sanctuary looking at fecal samples of every old dog? An appropriate thing to do?

My sanctuary would include: biscuits for the old dogs that I made from scratch; massage in the p.m. to help all the dogs with arthritis; medicine in the a.m./medicine in the p.m. and a few short or long walks on a trail or path created for old dogs. Some dogs could travel in wheelchairs and everyone off leash. Is this a fantasy version of what it would be like?

What about dogs in need of hospice care? I would hope we could make room for them too.

The volunteers would wear aprons stuffed with treats. The floors would be made from a slip resistant, foam material. The couches would be covered with warm blankets straight from the dryer.

Nature’s Miracle would need to be delivered every week!

I love the Facebook posts from: Old Friends Senior Dog Sanctuary  -check them out!
