Poisonous Mulch for Dogs

April 15, 2015 Spring has sprung and while I’m considering mulch I have some tips on what to stay away from in your gardens! I’m now researching this so thought I’d share what I’m finding –
tips for dog owners:
- Cocoa mulch: this is deadly to dogs so stay away from it even if you like the smell of chocolate
- Any chemicals used on lawns is a no no- always ask before someone sprays
- Slug and snail baits contain an active ingredient that is toxic called: metaldehyde
- Compost: sounds impossible right? But when the organic matter decomposes molds grow and some can be hazardous
