Do Dogs Need Shirts?

WiggleLess contacted me about two of their products for old Bruisy. They design a Dog Brace which I’m reviewing later this month and the Comfort Shirt which is a new product. These products are also designed to work together.

Bruiser is wearing the WiggleLess Comfort Shirt above which is becoming a go to.

It’s nice to find products that are super lightweight, breathable and stretchy. The weather is improving a little and into the 50s most days so this pullover is a nice addition on cooler mornings. It fits Bruiser really well too with generous arm holes so it’s easy to pull on over his head and fits nicely over his arms. It’s also made in the US. I’ve enjoyed getting to know this brand over the past few months.

I know this sounds crazy but having a larger opening for the arms is actually really important for the doxies as their legs are so short.

So….do they? Do dogs benefits from shirts?

Older dogs so benefit from a light fleece or pullover – here are some reasons why:

According to PetMD – and based on experience living with an older dog that has a short coat, dogs with weaker immune systems can use an extra source for warmth. And yes, sometimes they even benefit from wearing these shirts inside.

I also wrote about shirts that work post surgery and this is a GREAT option as it covers much of the body and would prevent Bruiser from licking and trying to chew out stitches.

We received these products from WiggleLess as part of their blogger program in exchange for an honest review.  I only share information about products that I believe in and already fit into our doggie lifestyle and routine. WiggleLess did not compensate me for this post.

Looks like a great product for dogs who need the extra warmth. Here’s hoping Bruiser is recovering nicely.

He has a nice collection of shirts and jackets! I am sure most dogs would rather wear a shirt than a cone of shame to keep them from chewing on their stitches.

When our beagle Kobi had a lump removed on his back, I really could have used something like this. We didn’t want to do a cone, so we tried to fit one of our old t-shirts to him. It kind of worked but it was never ideal.
Luke has very thin fur, especially underneath, so I have some different shirts for him too. He loves wearing them.
