We finally saw a Bald Eagle on this trip to Fort Stevens State Park. And I cannot believe we were lucky enough to get a pic. It was clearly hunting for breakfast and the doxies looked delicious I’m sure! This is where the mouth of the Columbia River meets the ocean and the views are spectacular. You can drive right on the beach, open the doors and start the hike.

Some digging action can be found on You Tube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QCGaAqoklf8

Cool! I don’t think I’ve seen one outside of a zoo. The Bald Eagle that is! I’ve seen plenty of dachshunds though!

    Aren’t they incredibly majestic?
I’d be afraid of one of them picking up the dogs, though!

  11. Wow, that’s an amazing picture. We sometimes take trips up to northern WI and have seen a few – but have never caught them on camera.

I love Astoria! It’s one of my favorite places to take my dogs [especially on weekdays because the beach is pretty empty!]. I haven’t been to Fort Stevens in a long time, but that was always fun to do when I was growing up. Great pictures, the bald eagle sighting is awesome!

    • Us too! Astoria is so pretty and I love that bridge! Thank you! We found that “B or C” entrance that’s far enough down we didn’t run into any other dogs which was great. So cool you grew up in that area! Thanks for hopping over!
