Wordless Wednesday: Dogs Being Dogs

What’s a typical day look like for your pack?

Man’s best friend. Mike and Walter are inseparable. Does any animal in your pack, have a “favorite” human?

From Mary Oliver’s, “Dog Songs” – Happy National Dog Day!

“Because of the dog’s joyfulness, our own is increased. It is no small gift. It is not the least reason why we should honor as well as love the dog of our own life, and the dog down the street, and all the dogs not yet born. What would the world be like without music or rivers or the green and tender grass? What would this world be like without dogs?”

  1. Ruby does tend to favor me. I sometimes feel a little guilty about this as she runs to me first over my husband and daughter.

    • I feel that way about Bruiser – he’s definitely “my dog” and then Shermie is somewhere between. Walter favors Mike for sure – it’s so funny as I feel guilty too as sometimes I’m really protective over Bruisy not getting enough attention!!

  2. Emma says:

Dogs being dogs is always a lot of fun. Mom is our favorite human, but we have some others we love like our gramma.

    • Agreed! I love when they chase each other around and act like goofballs. Your gramma sounds pretty awesome and lens you cool clothes when you go over to her house!

  3. Your life with dogs resembles ours! Loved the video. Any one would say “paws down” that I’m the favored human in the house. They love everyone, but most of the heart real estate belongs to me! #blessed

    • Thanks so much! Sherm and Walter chase each other around like lunatics on the beach. I love that you’re favored by your guys! I wish all three favored me! I’m second best with Walter – that’s now my new favorite hashtag! I feel #blessed too of course.

  4. Love it. Let them be dogs!

  5. Kia says:

I’m definitely Simba’s favorite human 😉 My husband comes in second though.

  6. My kitties have very definite favorite humans!

  7. Jean Dion says:

Adorable! And I am not at all ashamed to say that I am the favorite human in the house. That’s probably b/c the dogs stay with me all day when I am working. They just know me better. But it does give me a good feeling when they flock to me at the end of the day, when they could choose hubby instead.

    • Thank you! I also work from home and with Sherm and Bruisy it’s all about me! But Walter and Mike have this crazy bond and when Mike walks through the door after being gone 5 minutes it’s a like a ten minute kissy fest 😉 Love that your guys choose YOU!

Fun on the beach – yay! Our crew really does not play favorites between my hubby and I, even though I’m home with them more, and do more with them. Dad gets up with them in the morning though and feeds all of the meals, so that keeps him high up in their praises too!

    • That’s exactly how our house is as far as feeding! Dad gets up and feeds and walks two of the three in the a.m. so that also keeps him high on their lists! Old Bruisy is like my glue though although he loves nothing more than attention from Mike!

  9. “What would this world be like without dogs?” – A meaningful question. Yes, our world is more colorful with this geat friend. Love them.

  10. David says:

“Because of the dog’s joyfulness, our own is increased. ” Can’t agree more. And I will never understand why dog haters exist on this beautiful world. They may never have such simple but perfect happiness shown in your pic. Thanks for sharing.

  11. “What would the world be like without music or rivers or the green and tender grass? What would this world be like without dogs?” These two questions really have a clue. What a lovely song!

Your jaunty video reminds me of my dogs :). They are also playful like that whenever I take them to the beach. I’m raising five dogs right now and I can’t imagine how boring my life would have been without them. I wish you and your dogs all the best in life.

    • My dogs are clearly not great candidates for a Go Pro! I love watching them play on the beach –it’s clearly the best part of the doggie lives! Thanks for hopping over! I wish you and your five pups all the best!
